Another great outdoor workout for the upperbody. Even better, this is a great back & abdominal workout. We have a variety of lessons available with kiteboarding.

What is it?

Kiteboarding is using a kite on water with a wakeboard or surfboard underneath. The kites are pricey and very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Is this safe?

Like all of our training, we start out nice & slow. We start on a trainer kite that is about 3x the size of a regular kite. This measures 3 meters in wingspan. Not nearly enough power to take you off the ground. Look below for our list of steps to learn how to kiteboard.

The Stunt Kite

Use the stunt foil kite to learn how to manoeuvre the kite. We use 3m kites with 2 strings and no backbone. These are very hard to get started and hard to keep in the air. We do this on purpose to make sure your you know what you're donig. You'll fly the kite and learn how to take off, navigate it in a crowd, steer, and land the kite all while never having to get your feet wet or even take off your shoes.

Stunt Kite or Bigger

Sometimes 1 lesson isn't enough on the stunt kite. It's better to be safe than sorry. Besides, after you take your time to learn the basics, you'll have a strong foundation and know the mechanics of how the bigger kite works. If all went well on the first session, we'll bring out a 12m kite - 4x the size of the first kite you used! You will then use the kite on the sand just as you used the first kite. As you can see in the picture to the right, the 12m kite is much larger than the first picture. It is much more fun and powerful!

Dragging

Maybe the hardest lesson. You have to learn how to fall. Crazy idea, eh? Here, you'll be in a wetsuit and practice getting dragged through the water. This is important to know in case you fall while deep out in the water. An exhausting day, but well worth it in the end. Not to mention a great workout.

Getting up on the Board

Lastly, you need to learn how to get up on the board. We use wakeboards. Matt is an excellent wakeboarder having been on skis & boards for over 15 years. Different instructors prefer different types. If you are a surfer, you are welcome to bring your own board. After you get up, you're on your way! Be careful, though. Many fatalities and serious injuries have occurred when proper and patient training didn't take place.
