Rattlesnake is located just 2 1/2 miles away from the Mission - a trail that will take you into the wilderness just minutes away from downtown Santa Barbara.

Directions:

From the 101, get off on Mission St. and head towards the Mission.

Once at the Santa Barbara Mission continue to head toward the mountains on Los Olivos.

After half a mile, you'll approach a T Intersection. Here, take a right onto Foothill Rd.

At the next stop sign, take a left onto Mission Canyon Rd. Instead of going straight at the fork onto Tunnel Rd, stay right on Mission Canyon Rd.

Follow the road no more than .25 miles until it winds uphill. At the base of this hill, you'll take a sharp right onto Las Canoas.

Another 1.5 miles out this road is the trailhead. You'll pass one single lane stone bridge. Park at the second single lane stone bridge you come to.

Sometimes parking is rough. You may want to pass the bridge and park in the Skofield Park Parking Lot just right around the corner.

This is the beginning of the trailhead. Just walk over to the stone bridge and start up the mountain!
