Believe it or not, I doubt many hawaiian shirt dudes will even read this page. Why? They are too good to take advice from someone else. Their main problem is lack of listening. They think they can do everything on their own and if they can't do it, then no way in hell are they going to ask a "professional".
"...make up your own path to success." ~Matt Hackney
Remember, the smartest men in the world are the best listeners. They know how to listen to someone for an hour. Then apply 1% of what they heard into their own life. This is much more effective than drowning out everyone else around you. Learn how to analyze what a trainer tells you and then apply what you think is true. I encourage you to research 10 different sources before applying any. But if you are in a big square shirt because you don't like the body underneath, then you're obviously doing something wrong.
After you have researched thoroughly, feel free to make up your own path to success. I work with many CEOs, managers, businessmen, etc who all like to be in charge. It's never fun hearing someone tell you what to do when you are assertive.
My advice?
Meet with a trainer and be honest. Say, "I know a lot about health. I'm not the type of person to eat stupid salads or give up on a cold beer with the boys. So tell me what I need to know that is the bare minimum to lose my gut."
There is nothing wrong with honesty. This is a very reasonable problem with just as interesting solution. Each person is different and feel free to browse our site to pick up what you can on increasing your awareness of health & wellness. Even big macho men like yourself can benefit from better portion control and lifting the right types of weights in the gym.
